Annual General Meeting.
To be held Wednesday 13th January 2010.
Agenda to appear here shortly.
It is an established tradition for golf club Captains to raise money for a chosen charity during their year of office. At Newbiggin, Kath Moore (Lady Captain) & John Bell (Captain & Chairman) teamed up to support the Parkinson's Disease Society & raised a magnificent £2100. Throughout the year, the two Captains worked tirelessly on a number of events to raise funds including an Easter egg & bonnet competition, a barbecue, a Halloween party & even a Mr & Mrs competition won by 2009 Club champion & Vice Captain elect, Les Dawson. Their two Captains' Days also added to the fund. At the Club's annual Presentation Night, John & Kath handed over the £2100 cheque to Vivienne Rogerson, Branch & Volunteer Support Officer for the Parkinson's Disease Society. "I am so grateful to John, Kath & the members of Newbiggin for their hard work & generosity which has resulted in such a significant contribution to the Society." And it seems that raising funds for charity is very much part of the culture of Newbiggin golf club. Since 1988, club stalwart, Harry Smith has raised over £25,000 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution helped by Vera, his wife of 54 years. The pair are parents of Stuart Smith, former Northumberland Champion, tour pro & coach to Miguel Angel Jimenez.
The event was attended by Mr Richard Hannam who kindly took photos of the presentation evening. For a link to the photos on his website CLICK HERE.
