Active and Inactive Handicaps
CONGU News with Reference to the EGUSome significant changes are about to happen with regard to handicaps and scoring. Brief details are covered here however, for full coverage of these issues and more visit the EGU website at this web address. Active/Inactive Handicaps. From January 1st 2010 any member not returning 3 qualifying scores during the previous year 2009 will have their handicap become INACTIVE. Those with INACTIVE handicaps will be unable to enter Honour Board Competitions at Newbiggin and probably all Open events at other clubs. In order to prevent the loss of an ACTIVE handicap in this year be sure to enter 3 qualifying competitions or sufficient supplementary scores during the 2009 season. An opportunity to regain it during and after 2010 is possible. Players can return sufficient supplementary scores to reactivate their Handicap.. A player with an INACTIVE handicap may enter medal competitions at Newbiggin but will be prevented from winning any prizes or sweeps from that competition. |
No Returns New Scoring. All scores returned in stroke play competitions are automatically converted to Stableford Points. Players having an NR on a hole will be credited with a double bogey (0 points). It is essential that players with an NR should still complete the remainder of their round and enter the remaining scores for those holes. If an NR is entered to a scorecard the appropriate handicap adjustment will be made which can be down as well as up. (This is done by the computer and does not need the player to calculate the Stableford points on their card). This is important and ensures an accurate CSS is calculated allowing all handicaps to be adjusted correctly within a competition.
